The hospital has been in its present location since the 1980s. Originally it was the Mercer Vet Clinic, but once purchased by Dr. William Pyles in 1990; it was changed to its present name of Harrodsburg Animal Hospital. In 2004, after working at the animal hospital for five years, Dr. Spaulding purchased the practice. Prior to coming to Harrodsburg Animal Hospital, Dr. Spaulding practiced in Lebanon and Stanford, Kentucky, in mixed animal practices. The doctors Turcotte purchased the practice in January of 2020 from Dr. Spaulding after his retirement. They are a husband-wife team that previously worked in Georgia before moving to Kentucky.
Dr. Spaulding is a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He was raised on a dairy farm in Lincoln County; and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1976, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He practiced in Lebanon and Stanford, KY before coming to Harrodsburg Animal Hospital in 1999.
His other interests include: spending time with family, running, and being involved with the mission team at church. Through mission trips to Guatemala, Dr. Spaulding has been able to provide care for the animals in some of the villages there.
Dr. Spaulding is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, Central Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, and South East Veterinary Medical Association.
In case you haven’t already met them, we are excited to introduce Drs. Thomas and Alex Turcotte; a husband and wife veterinary team. They come to us as graduates of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, and have been practicing the last few years in Georgia. Dr. Alex enjoys treating exotics, as well as your cats and dogs. Dr. Thomas has a special interest in large animal work. They look forward to meeting you!
